WRITE IT DOWN: 30 BEFORE 31

So as mentioned briefly in my previous post, I’ve recently reached the big 3-0 milestone!  And without sounding like I’m trying to convince anyone but myself, I really do believe that age is just a number, as I certainly don’t feel as though I’ve gained that many notches to my belt year wise… hopefully I’ve attained some wisdom and knowledge along the way, along with most certainly a couple more smile lines I’m sure!

With this in mind, it seems fitting that on the first day of 2017 to lay out my personal aspirations and while this isn’t technically a ‘new years resolutions’ list, they are resolutions of sorts.  I’ve been doing these type of lists for a good few years now, but I do regret to say that none have been completed in their entirety.  So, I’m hoping by popping it up on here for all to see it will help keep me accountable to all the things I want to achieve during my next year of life and perhaps anyone reading this may find a little inspiration of their own to do the same!  I love the life I have, but wholeheartedly believe we should always strive to be the best version of ourselves, always pushing our boundaries and stepping outside of that dreaded comfort zone.  They don’t necessarily have to be big things; certainly many things I want to do may seem insignificant to others, but they’re things I want to do none the less.  And that’s the point of it all right?  To feel fulfilled within our daily comings and goings, to feel like we’ve made the most of what we have and to be always be looking forward while simultaneously enjoying the present – it certainly is a balance to be achieved and one I’m always trying to working on.

So here we go, the 30 things I want to tick off before hitting 31:

  1. Create my own product line
  2. Become best friends with my DSRL camera
  3. Go for hikes
  4. Bring the outdoors in and make a terrarium
  5. Record my thoughts – keep a written journal
  6. Sketch everyday for a month
  7. Read more books
  8. Seek out crafty workshops to attend
  9. Learn to play the cello (that I brought over a year ago)
  10. Learn Korean
  11. Really get into the swing of things with blogging
  12. Travel somewhere new
  13. Practice yoga regularly
  14. Meditate often
  15. Improve ye ol’ fitness regime
  16. Grown my consciousness and awareness
  17. Live authentically and with intent
  18. Make cheese from scratch
  19. Learn to paint with watercolours
  20. Learn to drive manual
  21. Get nifty with some up-cycling projects
  22. Become a baking wiz
  23. Go to the ballet
  24. Learn to sew
  25. Create a vision board
  26. Cultivate our own vegetable garden
  27. Pick up a new hobby
  28. Commit to a 365 photo challenge
  29. Strive to adapt a minimalist lifestyle
  30. Be the best mother I can be for our wee bundle on the way

It’s great thinking about what direction you want to take next and being able to look back on the last 12 months, noting all that’s happened.  Time really does go by too quickly… and quicker by each year it seems!  To be completely honest, I feel like I’ve lost my creative-self as I’ve ‘grown up’ and a lot of the things I used to enjoy doing I somehow managed to develop the typical excuse of ‘I don’t have time’ or ‘I’m too tired’… But no more I say.  No more excuses, just more ‘doing’.  Tis time to start this next decade (ahhh) of my life in full swing – Here’s to my best year yet!

I’m so glad I stumbled upon your blog – it’s lovely! I can relate to your most recent post, too. I’m turning 30 in just a little less than 2 weeks and the idea of not being in my 20s brings all sorts of emotions. I, too, recently purchased my very first DSLR and have been trying to make it my best friend. I look forward to your new posts! Good luck in the new year!
